(Learn more about the organs of the human bodies in other posts in the Viscera series here: http://jinavie.tumblr.com/tagged/viscera/chrono)
The pancreas is probably the most central organ in the human body. It is situated just under the liver and stomach, surrounded by the duodenum (first part of small intestine) and lies in front of the aorta. It is shaped like a fish and thus is...

Just dropping in to say hello...
I feel sad cause I feel like I’m neglecting all of you. But being preggo is a lot of work, and then working on top of being preggo is a lot of work. I’ll try and get the queue loaded up here shortly. Meanwhile, I hope everyone is staying healthy and everyone’s pancreas has been behaving!

ERCP, the ins and outs!
Alright, so I went in for an ERCP. My whole process has been a bit rushed and so I’m adding that to some of my confusion. I feel great now so I’m thankful, but for those who aren’t sure going in, here’s my walk through, along with a few links at the bottom that are pretty helpful. Some of this may be repeat for a few of my followers, but I figured one big summary is good!

So I went in for my Surgery on December 17th. Went in at a bright and chirpy 6am!
I was almost immediately in surgery, after prepping me and speaking with me, I was probably in the ER room and ready for...

So about that update.
Sorry guys! I’ve been preparing for a super busy December, so I apologize about the delay!
Anyway. The update!
So as I mentioned before, being preggo had me a smidge worried about the giant cyst in my tummy. But I’ll elaborate a bit.
So the timeline goes:
February 2012 - Went to ER with severe abdominal pain, stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. Boy that was fun.
End of February...
My pancreas hurts so bad today :(
xxsavagesagexx:
Wondering…. my doctors said no relation to these, but wondering if anyone has the same issues.
I had gastric bypass about 6 years ago and fibromyalgia and just diagnosed with pancreatitis.
Anyone else have a link to these. I’m wondering if either one caused the pancreatitis.
Does anyone have any home remedies for the pain? My percocets aren’t touching the pain today. :(

paratiparami:
Results from the first feasibility study of an artificial pancreas has shown that it successfully works in humans. The device, called the Hypoglycemia-Hyperglycemia Minimizer (HHM) System, is able to automatically predict a rise and fall in blood glucose levels in Type 1 diabetes sufferers, enabling it to increase or decrease insulin delivery. The system is comprised of an...

Something a little educational.
I personally was not prescribed Creon, which is something I’ll be bringing up at my next apt. But are any of you out there?
CREON is a pancreatic enzyme preparation consisting of pancrelipase, an extract derived from porcine pancreatic glands.
It’s basically a digestive enzyme you take daily to assist your pancreas in breaking down food, to help give it a break and not work so hard....

Just a little update.
I’m officially unemployed, this isn’t shocking or anything. I work at an amusement park so it happens every fall. But it’s really odd for me. Since going into the hospital in February I’ve worked all summer. Granted some weeks more then others, and I definitely started off slow.
But now I can spend much more time pancreatitising up tumblr!

a pseudocyst? Like…a fake one?
So, a pseudocyst is like a cyst, only it doesn’t have epithelial or endothelial cells like a real cyst. It’s like a big bag of digestive enzymes and random stuff hanging out in my gut.

So I went in for a physical and some blood work. This would be my 3rd apt since I got out of the hospital. And the Dr. is palpating my abdomen, when she says “what is this hard mass in your abdomen?”
I tell her it’s been there since I got out of the hospital…that I was told when I was IN the hospital that it’s just the tissue of my pancreas, and surrounding soft...
